Why I Write

2. Why I Write Final

1. Why I Write Draft

This assignment presented an opportunity to tell the truth about my desire to write and what I hope to achieve with the medium. I found this to be one of the more difficult assignments to complete in this class – I didn’t know how to formulate my ideas behind my desire to write. After thinking about it for a while I began to realize the connections between my interests in art, and my interests in writing. They’re both very similar mediums, as both allow the user to morph thoughts and ideas into creative, expressive work. Writing is another artistic medium; one that challenges me, giving me the opportunity to express myself in another form.

I wouldn’t say I’m especially happy with my final draft of this assignment. Something is missing, and I can’t quite put my finger on it. There is no way to escape writing, since it’s part of our every day lives – so I suppose I write because I have to, in order to function in society. However, there is motivation behind wanting to write. Spending time with writing and words – diving head first into an idea with hopes of creating something with it. If I compare writing to art, then why do I make art? What is it’s purpose in my life? It’s a way of expressing myself, but what drives me to do it? I suppose what I’m trying to say is that I do not yet fully understand why I write – it’s a confusing question I’ll have to come back to many times before I figure it out completely.
